My mother told me., ‘If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything’. So clearly right now I have a lot to say…
After Hours Cabaret Club is Sen.Fucking.Sational!
That could end the review. But that would be lazy AF. AND it deserves more words.
Hostess with much, much more than the Mostest, Tash York, set’s the tone of the night perfectly and brilliantly on-point with the energy of a ‘well trained’ superstar (especially after only finishing minutes before her solo show, the equally cool ‘Badass’). Her interaction with the audience is effortless, uber fun and quick of wit. BUT it’s her voice that’s the knock out, jamming her way through the shows powerhouse set list, this lady stepped no wrongs.
Tash and the other artists were supported by the cream of musicians, which created a well blended five piece band. They were brilliant at their craft and often got involved and interacted in the show itself and only added to creating a carnival/circus atmosphere.
It went on and the night took a very sexy turn as amply talented and well bosomed Burlesque Goddess of Perfection, Bettie Bombshell took centre stage. AND Bombshell by name and Bombshell by nature she was. Proving why is is one of Australia much loved Burlesque performers, Bettie stripped, teased, graced and moved her way into our hearts instantly. Her act and look is divine, complete with immaculate and detailed makeup plus quality costume she clearly has cemented her name as a staple in the industry. Bravo my Queen.
The evening roll call of Fringe favorites played along quickly as sexy hot bod Rueban DOT DOT DOT stunned the audience with his unbelievable, control of balance circus theatrics. David Splatt, a master of mime, played the ‘saw’ as a violin to Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer which had the audience singing along like they were at a rock concert. Added with his comedic facial expression – this man is epic talent.
Miss Curvella was essentially a human form of Jessica Rabbit (only in blue sequins and brunette hair) and mesmerized from start to finish and audience member clamored to acquire her quickly disrobed costumes. A seductress in the finest form.
Adding the cherry-on-top to the night were performers from Rouge. This troupe are just needing to be seen to be believed. The acrobatics they do are defying the laws of nature. And we, the audience, lapped it up. This show on own it’s needs also to be seen and mesmerized by.
To wrap up: GO SEE THIS SHOW!
3 words: Sassy, Sexy & (I need to) See (this again).
Negative: I didn’t want it to end. A fan? Yes. And you will be too.
