Stewart Reeve is back in Adelaide and back on stage with his second show. His first being ‘Rebel’ which played back in February for Adelaide Fringe. ‘Rebel’ was an unexpected star of the pre mentioned festival and Stewart’s impressive nod to the Bowie catalogue was well received by the most hardened and judgey ‘Starman’ fans. It was not hard to see that Mr Reeve would be back soon to tantalize us with his accomplished showman-ship.
The new show ‘Chameleon‘ premiered and debuted in Adelaide on Thursday 6 June for Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival at the Gluttony Nth Terrace hub – AND it was a case of Chameleon by Chameleon by nature.
This man’s voice warps and twists around as his vocal chords and channel the big stars such as Macy Gray, Anastacia, Avenue Q and stacks more with stunning jaw-dropping comparisons.
The night began with a flamboyant rendition of Rocky Horror Show’s ‘Sweet Transvestite’ which Tim Curry would be proud of. ‘Stewart Reeve as the new Frankenfurter’, musical theatre producers take note! Fans of Nathan Lane were not disappointed with a fabulous piece performed with panache. The almost expected David Bowie number popped up AND was a brilliant finale with a song that did not appear in Rebel (Life on Mars), possibly my favorite. BUT the show-stopper was the INXS/Michael Hutchense number that had the crowd mesmerized as Stewart pranced the stage like a sex panther.
Comedy, Story telling, Song… This show entertained the masses that showed up for sold-out opening night. He is an authentic act that know how’s to connect with the audience. Bravo.
To wrap up… Go and see this, Stewart Reeves is a fucking star, and he’s only just begun.
