A Botanic Spirit
Plants, creativity & wellbeing.
Exploring the connection between plants, creativity and wellbeing. A project close to Markus's belief that the spaces and living things around us shape how we think and feel.
Markus Hamence
Markus Hamence is an Adelaide-based interior designer with a rockstar edge, a creative director who treats a workspace like a stage and the people in it like the performance that matters most.
His career spans the design studio, the lecture theatre and the retail floor. Today he curates a tight, considered range of office seating. Each piece is chosen not for the catalogue, but for the way it holds a room together and supports the bodies and ideas within it.
Design should inspire. Furniture should support. Together, they should transform the way we work.
Design Philosophy
Great design is never decoration for its own sake. It is the deliberate shaping of how a space makes us feel, and of what becomes possible inside it. Markus designs for the moment a room stops being a backdrop and starts to inspire the people within it.
The Approach
Three pillars that guide every space and every piece in the range.
Space shapes behaviour. A considered room invites focus, conversation and ease. Design is the quiet architecture of how a day unfolds.
Furniture should support the work, never interrupt it. The right chair disappears beneath you, leaving only the task and the energy to meet it.
How we sit, move and feel at work matters. Ergonomics, light and material come together in service of the person at the centre of the space.
Background
Markus lectures in interior design at TAFE, shaping the next generation of South Australian designers, a role that keeps his own practice sharp, curious and grounded in fundamentals.
His retail and design background includes time with respected names such as Louis Bond and BlackCherry, where he honed an eye for materials, craft and the quiet details that separate good rooms from memorable ones.
Today that experience informs the range he curates, and every chair earns its place.
